MENA welcomes Dr. Saeid Golkar

MENA is pleased to announce that Dr. Saeid Golkar, a renowned expert on Iranian society, military and politics, will be teaching a course on "Society and Politics in Iran" during the Spring 2014. Dr. Golkar, a senior fellow at the Chicago Council on Global Affairs and visiting scholar at Northwestern's Buffett Center for International and Comparative Studies (BCICS), received his PhD in political science from Tehran University and was a lecturer at Azad University before coming to the US. He has recently completed a book on the Basij (Iran's paramilitary force) and the securitization of Iranian society, to be published by Johns Hopkins in 2014. Recent publications can also be found in journals such as Middle East Journal; Armed Forces & Society; Politics, Religion & Ideology; Digest of Middle East Studies, and Journal of Women of the Middle East and the Islamic World.
